Modern accountancy · Remote-first · UK-wide

Your accountant should be a partner, not an annual event.

Accounting for freelancers, builders, landlords, agencies, cafés and consultants

KJH Accountancy is a modern, remote-first practice for sole traders, landlords and limited companies across the UK. Cloud software, numbers you can see all year, and an accountant who helps you make decisions — not one who surfaces every January to tell you what already happened.

The short version

What that actually means, in practice.

  • 01

    One person, every time

You deal with your accountant directly. No portal, no junior, no queue, no "I'll check with the team".

  • 02

    Fixed fees, up front

Quoted before any work starts. If the scope changes, you hear it from us first.

  • 03

    Numbers you can see today

Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent kept live — cash, profit and what you owe HMRC.

  • 04

    In touch all year

Check-ins before the deadlines, not a letter after them. The decisions that save tax happen in advance.

Why people switch

The old way, and what you get instead.

Most small businesses only hear from their accountant once a year, after the fact. That's not advice — it's paperwork.

The old wayWith KJH
Contact One meeting a year, usually after the year has ended. Ongoing. A quick message when something comes up, and scheduled check-ins before key dates.
Your numbers A set of accounts nine months after year end, by which point they're history. Live bookkeeping in the cloud. You can see cash, profit and what you owe HMRC today.
Tax Calculated and filed. A bill, and a deadline. Planned ahead — salary and dividends, timing of purchases, allowances — with the bill estimated months out.
Fees Hourly, billed after the work, often a surprise. Fixed and agreed up front. If the scope changes, you'll know before the invoice does.
Who you deal with A different junior each year, or a portal. Your accountant. Same person, every time, who knows your business.

What I do

Everything a small business needs, kept simple.

Year-end accounts & corporation tax

Statutory accounts, Companies House and HMRC filings, prepared from books that are already in order — not a scramble in month nine.

Self assessment

Sole traders, landlords and directors. Filed early, with the bill known well ahead of January.

Bookkeeping & VAT

Cloud bookkeeping in Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent, reconciled regularly, with VAT returns prepared and reviewed before submission.

Payroll & CIS

Monthly payroll, RTI submissions, pensions and P60s. CIS returns and statements for contractors and subcontractors.

Tax planning

Salary versus dividends, purchase timing, reliefs and allowances — worked out before the year ends, when it can still make a difference.

Management reporting

Monthly or quarterly numbers you can act on: cash, margin, what's coming, and what to do about it.

Client stories

What it's like on the other side of it.

The stretch from sole trader to limited company is where most people want someone who has done it before.

From employed, to sole trader, to limited company.

I’d been employed my whole working life and honestly had no idea what I was doing when it came to going out on my own. From becoming a sole trader to now transitioning into a limited company, KJH have supported me every step of the way. They’ve been incredibly proactive, always giving clear, practical advice and laying everything out in a way that’s easy to understand. I couldn’t have asked for better support and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and approachable accountant.

About

A small practice, on purpose.

Every client works with Kieran directly, and the client list is capped so it stays that way.

His background is in finance and data — building the reporting that businesses run on, not just the filings they're obliged to make. That shows in how the practice works: clean books, live numbers, and decisions made with them.
